I continue to get the questions of “why do I need a public adjuster or an attorney who will take a percentage of my claim?” “Why not just rely on the insurance company’s adjuster?” This Wall Street Journal article exposed the carriers’ failure to have the necessary amount of adjusters in place makes the case for use of a public adjuster. The article identifies the inevitable delay due to the shortage, but fails to mention the fact that these adjusters will be overworked and pressured into more inspections. These all lead to more mistakes and underpayments. Public adjusters, who solely represents policyholders, and attorneys will be able to identify and act as a safeguard for property owners.
